I'm the type of person that gets my horse to the vet before it gets too far. Sometimes that's not fair to the veterinarian. Years ago my horse would stumble with his hind legs, occasionally. After the 3rd or 4th time I made an appointment at an equine medical center for a lameness exam. After flexion tests, ultrasounds and radiographs he was able to say he had, maybe, a 0.5 grade lameness to his left hind and might detect a little extra fluid in that stifle. After a course of an injectable GAGs and NSAIDs we went back to work. After about 4 months, it came back. So, another round of injectable GAGs and MSM. But, I didn't want to keep giving injectables, I wanted something less invasive and long term. This obviously wasn't going away.
At a horse expo long ago I stopped to talk with the people at the Foxden booth. I talked with their representative about my EMS mare and how I was looking for supplements that were basically 'pure', no fillers or additives, as she could not have a lot of things but needed joint support at the ripe old age of 24.
